Writing

Electric Lilith

It's about electricity, it's about Lilith, it's about magic. It might be about going to the dentist. We put the 'dental' into transcendental. Electric Lilith.

One Night Stan

AKA Ruach Blasphemed, AKA Cruelty to Muses.
I usually want to have three titles. One Night Stan.

Fox in Socks

The secret, appalling truth about what's going on in Dr. Seuss: an examination of Fox in Socks.

A Traveller Lost His Way

Yes, A Traveller Lost His Way.

What is this writing and why is it here?

This writing is here because:

  • I wrote it.
  • I told people that I would put it on the interwebs.
  • It could just sit on my own computer where nobody will see it. But what's the point in that (except to save me from embarrassment).

Anybody can tell you what are the main elements in good writing. E.g. character, story, plot, place.

I don't care about any of that. (Sorry Aristotle.)

What I enjoy doing has nothing to do with the virtues of good writing.

I suppose that means I do 'experimental writing'.

In case any more explanation is needed: cut-up procedures were a part of (almost) all of this writing. My cut-up machine is a computer. There is nothing new about this and it hardly seems worth talking about. Also I hesitate to call it 'experimental writing' because that suggests innovation.

Some links to other sites related to experimental writing:

At esoteric-sensationalism.com there is concise discussion/explanation about the (or a) rationale for experimental fiction.
Also there is a cut-up machine: i.e. text randomising software you can download. I have not tried it but it looks pretty good. Looks like lot of thought has gone into it.
Also there is an on-screen word-magnet toy/tool you can use. That's like fridge-magnet words, but you use it in your browser. It appears to be made just with javascript and HTML, no Flash. Pretty cool.

Tribe.net have a forum/community thing about experimental writing.
